Privacy Policy
1. Who We Are
This policy explains how ED Commerce collects, uses, shares and protects personal information, in accordance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its implementing rules. ED Commerce is operated by Geloski Computer Programming Services, of Mabalacat City, Pampanga, Philippines, which is the personal information controller for the information described here. Requests and questions about personal information may be sent to edcommercemanager@gmail.com.
In short
This explains what we know about you, why, who else sees it, and how to ask us about it. We're Geloski Computer Programming Services, and you can reach us at edcommercemanager@gmail.com.
2. What We Collect
Account information: the email address, username and profile picture provided when an account is created through our sign-in provider. Order information: the items bought, the amounts paid, the payment method, and the email address a receipt is sent to. Card and e-wallet details are entered on the payment provider's page and are not received or stored by ED Commerce. Delivery information, for physical items: the recipient's name, mobile number, delivery address and any delivery note. The last address used is kept so that it can be offered at the next checkout. Messages and the photographs sent in them, problem reports and the photographs attached to them, and reviews. Seller information: the name and email address given when applying to sell; the shop's name, logo and tagline; the location parcels are sent from and a contact number; and the GCash number and account name to which payouts are sent, with the record of each payout. Contact form submissions: the name, email address and message. Technical information: the internet protocol address of a request to a form, kept for one day to limit abuse; error reports, from which personal details are removed before they are sent; and the cookies and browser storage described in section 8.
In short
Your email, username and photo from sign-in. What you bought and paid. For parcels, the name, number and address to deliver to. Your messages, reports, photos and reviews. If you sell: your shop details, where you ship from, and the GCash number you're paid to. We never see your card or e-wallet details: you type those on PayMongo's page.
3. Why We Use It
Personal information is processed: to create and maintain accounts and to provide the marketplace, including taking payment, delivering digital files, arranging the delivery of physical items, cancellations, refunds and payouts, as necessary for the performance of the contract between ED Commerce and its users; to send emails about orders, shipments, refunds, payouts and unread messages; to review reports, flagged conversations and listings, prevent fraud and enforce the Terms of Service, in ED Commerce's legitimate interest; to keep the records required by tax, accounting and other laws; and to find and fix faults in the service. ED Commerce does not sell personal information.
In short
To run your account and your orders, email you about them, keep the marketplace safe, keep the records the law asks for, and fix things that break. We never sell your information.
4. Who Sees It
The seller of a physical item receives the recipient's name, mobile number, delivery address and any delivery note while the item is waiting to be sent and while it is on its way, so that it can be delivered; the seller gives the delivery details to the courier they choose. The other party to a conversation sees the messages and photographs sent in it, and a buyer's review is shown publicly with their username. An ED Commerce administrator may read a conversation as described in clause 11 of the Terms of Service. Personal information is also processed on ED Commerce's behalf by service providers: Clerk (sign-in), PayMongo (payments), Neon (database and file storage), Netlify (hosting), Cloudinary (images), Resend (email) and Sentry (error reports), and, where it is enabled, Meta, as described in section 8. Personal information may be disclosed where required by law or by a lawful order of a court or government authority.
In short
The seller of your parcel gets your delivery details, only while they need them to send it. The person you message sees your messages. Reviews show your username. Companies that run parts of the site for us (sign-in, payments, storage, hosting, images, email, error reports) handle it on our behalf. We share it with authorities only when the law requires it.
5. Where It Is Stored
Some service providers store and process personal information outside the Philippines; ED Commerce's database and file storage are located in the United States. ED Commerce uses providers that maintain security measures appropriate to the information, and remains responsible for the information it transfers to them.
In short
Some of it is stored outside the Philippines, including our database in the United States. We're still responsible for it there.
6. How Long It Is Kept
Account information is kept while the account is open. Records of orders, payments, refunds and payouts are kept for as long as they are needed for the purposes above and for the periods required by tax and accounting laws, including after an account is closed. Messages and their photographs are kept as described in clause 11 of the Terms of Service. A delivery address is shown to a seller only until the item is delivered or cancelled. Records containing internet protocol addresses, kept to limit abuse of forms, are deleted after one day. When an account is deleted, it is closed and can no longer be used; any physical items its seller has not yet sent are cancelled and refunded; and the records of its orders are kept as stated above.
In short
We keep your account while it's open. Order and payout records stay longer, because tax and accounting laws require them. Messages are kept as the Terms say. If you delete your account, it's closed for good, but its order records stay.
7. How It Is Protected
Information is sent over encrypted connections. Product files, payout records and the photographs in messages and problem reports are kept in private storage and shown through links that expire shortly after they are made. Access by ED Commerce administrators is limited to what their role requires, and their actions are recorded in an audit log that cannot be altered.
In short
Everything travels encrypted. Private files are shown through links that expire quickly. Admins see only what their job needs, and what they do is logged.
8. Cookies and Similar Technologies
ED Commerce uses cookies set by its sign-in provider to keep users signed in, and the browser's local storage to remember a shopping bag, a chosen currency and display preferences. Where the Meta Pixel is enabled, a script from Meta records the pages visited so that ED Commerce can measure its advertising on Facebook; Meta may use that information under its own privacy policy. ED Commerce uses no other advertising or analytics trackers.
In short
Cookies keep you signed in. Your browser remembers your bag and settings. When we run Facebook ads, Meta's Pixel records which pages you visit so we can see whether the ads work. Nothing else tracks you.
9. Your Rights
Under the Data Privacy Act, you have the right to be informed of how your personal information is processed; to access it; to object to its processing; to have it corrected; to have it erased or blocked where it is no longer necessary or was unlawfully processed; to obtain a copy of it in a commonly used electronic format; and to be indemnified for damages. To exercise these rights, write to edcommercemanager@gmail.com from the email address on your account. Some information must be kept even on request, such as records the law requires. You may also lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission.
In short
You can ask what we hold about you, get a copy, have it corrected, object, or have it deleted where we don't have to keep it. Email us from your account's address. If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the National Privacy Commission.
10. Students Under 18
ED Commerce sells study and reference materials, and some of its users are students. A person under eighteen should use ED Commerce with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian, who may contact ED Commerce about the minor's personal information.
In short
If you're under 18, use ED Commerce with a parent's or guardian's OK. They can contact us about your information.
11. Changes to This Policy
The date at the top of this policy shows when it last changed. Where a change affects how information already collected is used, ED Commerce will tell users by email or on the site.
In short
If we change this, the date at the top changes, and we'll tell you about anything important.
